First off, I'm thinking of my oldest friend, little Philip, during his day of loss, knowing all too well, what it is like to loose a father far far too soon. The recent coverage of Capricorn's history brings back lots of memories of Philip and my childhood together as kids in Macon while our fathers were making music history and, for sure, having more fun in the proccess than we can or we will ever know or, my guess, print-- Unfortunately, we were just too damn young to enjoy it all... All the remberance of the Capricorn history makes me miss my own father, Frank Fenter, the other guy(most of you will probably not know--he passed in 1983) but was co-founded Capricorn Records, having taken the huge risk of leaving Atlantic Records, becuase he believed so firmly in a rough demo tape of the ABB, when he had a great gig of running Atlantic Records for Europe(signing many of Atlantics super groups of the 1960s), and offers to move to NYC to work with his mentor, Ahmet Ertgun, co-founder of Atlantic Records. He took the leap in his belief on that very rough demo tape to move to Macon GA; Phil and Frank made a great partnership, each having very complimentary talents and experiences that made Capricorn the success it was, knowing neither could have done it without the other... It's been a very nostalgic few days and my thoughts are with my childhood friend. Rob Fenter
