Sad about Phil Walden. Regardless of any antipathy that may have come between him and some of the band members (hey, sh*t happens), it was Walden's vision and determination that brought the Allman Brothers Band to fruition. Would it have happened otherwise? Who knows? Maybe, maybe not. Other bigtime music execs were aware of them, aware of Duane---none of them ran with the ball as Phil did. He made a difference in this country with regards to civil rights (in an indirect way thru Otis Redding and the ABB and others), the Carter Presidency, and so many other ways. A very important man in the history of the American South. We all owe him a debt. Horace EAPFP
