Hey there sweet family,
The Allman Brothers Band management cares very much about the extended family. Dates are not announced until they are, all together now, set in stone (read: the ABB know for a fact they are appearing, not a premature announcement on the part of a promoter or venue while discussions are still being held) because they realize many of you travel to concerts and don't want you to have the unfortunate experience of having to cancel plans based on squishy information. Are they 100% successful? No. Do they 150% try? Yes.
A huge amount of time, effort, coordination and business expertise goes into setting up a tour. Considerations include a limited touring season and a limited number of venues major artists want to play. Managment puts holds on dates/venues early on ... then the "I'll trade you X for X" based on, among other points, sensible routing begins.
Tour scheduling is a detail rich process that takes months to ... set in stone.
The management of the Allman Brothers Band is a first-class operation. They inspire the heck out of Rowland and myself and we're proud to call them our brothers.
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
