Just wanted to let those on the GB know that Derek and the DTB really smoked the HandleBar in Greenville SC last night. after what had to be a very long day battling Bus trouble and working in an appearance on the John Boy and Billy morning radio show, they came out on fire, featuring songs from the new Songlines CD. This band has really come of age in the year since they played Greenville last spring. Highlight for me was an absolutely beautiful Soul Serenade as I've always kept the music of King Curtis close to heart. Todd Smallie had the biggest smile on his face all night and you could tell they were really feeding off the energy from a sold out crowd of over 500. Other highlights were Crow Jane, I wish I knew, Sahib terri Bandi, and a killer encore of Anyday, with Mike really shining on the vocals. Folks you better catch 'em while you can at these small venues, cause the days soon coming when you'll want to say I remember when they played the club down the street! Midweek shows sure take a bigger toll on an old man than they used to, but to quote JCM " It hurts so good this AM"
