I may be late on this one to the Guest book, but it is definitely worth sharing here. It's from the Forum under: The allman Brothers Can Bring Tears To Your Eye
The original post from OldDirtRoad
I consider myself to be a man.....what kind of one...well I don't know....it varies from time to time....I'm a kid sometimes also.....LOL !
I'm a very emotional type person.....like that guy who just retired as coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.
But The Allman Brothers has made this ole boy's heart feel so good quite enough times that tears rolled down my face from the "Feelings"
Good ole "Goliath" and I spoke about that one time.
Like Dereks lead on "Worried down with the Blues" on that bonus Mule CD.
Touches my heart every time........
How many other bands have that much feeling.......when I hear Derek or Duane's slide work...it's like that chord is plugged right into their HEART and SOUL.
and it gets to me....
Here's my reply, if you have an opportunity, go over and read what everyone else has to share. We are certainly fortunate to have each other. 🙂
I am so glad and overwhelmed at reading these posts. The music of the Allman Brothers Band has always been my Spiritual muse, and like all of us that "get it" the experience is spiritual. I am always so amazed when art has the energy to move one's soul to tears. As for "Art" we all know it just a name of a guy.
The reality for me has always been that of spirituality channeled from the universe, and there hasn't been at least one moment during a live Allman Brothers Band experience where I wasn't brought to tears. It is overwhelming experience of love and family knowing that many of us share in this same experience. I often have this experience just listening to the music outside of the live experience. That's how powerful the magic and spirituality of the Allman Brothers Band music has impacted our lives.
As for the 3/19/05 show when Susan sang "Don't Think Twice" alongside Derek...well that brought big time tears down my face during that performance.
I will always be grateful for the music of The Allman Brothers Band, and this community that I am honored to be a part of. Ya'll a great bunch...I love you all.
Sweet
