Shn & burning I sent this to Linus but thought I would send it to all The best place to get educated is on www.etree.org. Basically Shn is a lossless format. Mp3 looses the high and low end. Which take up the most data(size). But live music sounds very warbly. Lots of flutter in the sound. The thing with shn is that it is huge in size and you need software to convert it so that you can burn it to a cd. Here is an example. Let's say you download Whipping post. Mp3 format=20 megs Shn=45 megs. But then you need to convert it to a format that is recognizable by cd-burners called .wav. when you convert it it bumps the size up to 90 megs. So when a person sends you a disc with the show on it in shn format you can't listen to it unitl you do some work. You need to copy it to your hard drive. Then you use software from Softwound http://www.softsound.com/wsh23b32.EXE to convert it and then you use your cd-burning software to burn it. When burning the software make sure you choose DAO (Disc At Once) this eliminates the 2 second gap that you get on non-live cd's. Eric
