Before I laced up the Adidas for my walk this morning (at the 8.5 mile marker and needed a breather) I read in the paper that Alan Lomax died. I'd say he is the grand daddy of tapers and really kick started what we all benefit so richly from today. He would drag equipment that weighed well over a hundred pounds in order to record the likes of Son House, Leadbelly, Guthrie, Muddy Waters etc. so their sounds would not drift off in the wind but remain available for generations. What a labor of love to keep the music alive. Thanks go out today to all our modern day tapers for keeping the music alive for years to come. Now, I've got to get back out on the road again...(Johnny...wanna take it from here?) Y'all have a nice weekend.
