Hello neil,
ALAN PARSONS BEATLE TRIBUTE SHOW IN CHICAGO 07/06/02. JUST INCREDIBLE! Alan( friends of the Beatles, producer of"DarkSide of the moon", "1st Paul McCartney" solo album and countless albums has put together a stellar band of killer musicians last year and this year. 3 hour free show at Taste of Chicago. DID ANYONE GO TO THIS SHOW? Jack Bruce who played with CREAM took over this year for John Entwhitsle who was supposed to go on the road with the WHO before his untimely death. Geoffrey Townshend(no relation to Pete) played guitar and sang out of this world. He was the guitar player for the John Entwhistle band going back to the mid 90's. Seeing Geoffrey there without John Entwhistle was a little spooky but JACK BRUCE played terric bass and sang like a bird. Cristopher Cross and a few unknown musicians played three hours of Beatles music. THEY COOKED! JACK, GEOFFREY and a drummer did the best power trio version of "Sunshine of your love and White ROOM" I have ever heard. After a break, Jack sang "Eleanor Rigby" with only a keyboard doing strings parts. Just his voice no bass and a keyboard. The Beatle songs had 5 part harmonies going strong. With Geoffrey playing Harrison note for note. Hope you might catch this tour. It's a keeper. Did anyone Tape that show?
I have read a few posts about Jerry Garcia. What a habit many of us had waiting for the Dead each year and to see Jerry come out on stage and smile, smile, smile. The cycle of life continues. Alpine should be fun with the Dead reunion. Jerry will always be floating around Alpine. Now we have a creative big bear in Warren. Nobody will ever replace Jerry but we are lucky to have beautiful music with Warren and the ABB's
My thoughts are with you and your dad. Hoping for positive news. Take care Charlie
