Hophead, your post was absolutely beautiful. Your feeling of transcendance is something I understand and it is why, after 36 years, I keep coming back. A friend told me it's "ecstatic recall" - a moment in time that brings you back to another moment, long ago, when one was much much younger when the music lifted us up to heights we've only occasionally reached. I think the most recent moment like that for me was the performance of Dreams at the Fox a couple of years ago. Dreams is a song during which I always sit, close my eyes and let it take me away - and when it is played right - when it is played like Duane played it - I can physically feel my heart being lifted, my lungs opening up to accept all the air they can hold, allowing me to float - it is as close to entering heaven as one can get.
