WHAT A DAY!! .........Gov't Mule was having more fun than any band I've ever seen.........Warren and danny louis were boppin around...........O'Tiel was just going off.....he was so into it.......Bad Little Doggie into How many more years was ferocious.......Warren teased the Doors' Love Me Two Times.........Sco-Mule and Mule were also highlights.........during Soulshine, Warren threw out a little Jessica tease....again, they were having so much fun; the crowd was large and raucous in anticipation of what would come later in the day. The ABB were simply unstoppable....DWYKM/NMCTB opened with Trouble No More and All Night Train following.........NOLTRW was incredible - and a lot longer than I've ever seen them do it. .......... Danny Louis came out for the grittiest, dirtiest, funkiest version of the Same Thing that one could imagine...everyone was smiling...Jimmy Herring and Rob Barraco were off to the side groovin and smiling along...High Cost of Low Living is a beautiful song....and the new instrumental is nice........Herring and barraco came on for a furious Southbound.........the song was supercharged....Herring, Barraco and Warren traded licks at the end and all I could do was shake my head and laugh.....they were hittin' the note times 10.........Mountain Jam seemed a bit abridged..I think they were running into some time difficulties....OWO closed the show. If I have one complaint, its that the sound for the ABB was noticeably softer than for P&F.....and at times it was a little sludgy whereas P&F was deafeningly loud yet crystal clear. Speaking of, P&F is just an incredible band..........beautiful three part folk harmonies to go along with superior musicianship......it doesn't get much better. Jimmy Herring is a master...no disrespect to anyone else, but my jaw drops when he goes on one of his absurdly fast runs....mixing pentatonic, dorian, chromatic, diminished 9th or whatever...and I think he really brings out the best in warren..they were magic during some of their duels....they're both just amazing. St. Stepehen > Eyes of the World was surreal. Other highlights were Night of 1000 Stars, No More Do I, Box of Rain and the Lovelight closer. And then....to close the night out, I was able to catch a bit of the legendary Ray Charles.....its not often you get to see your hero's hero live.....unbelievable. Anyway, sorry for the long stream-of-concsious post.......I had to get it out now!
