I feel I should clear up a few things here.............
FIRST and FOREMOST- The most important focus of the Jam for Duane
is Duane Allman. It is for him and the music he played and loved, and how he loved to have people get together to enjoy that spirit of music. The People! That's what makes it special.
Not music from great bands or individuals, but the gathering of kindred fans and people who are
coming together to honor Duane Allman. It don't matter if it's inside a public bathroom...it's all of you who came together to honor Duane that is special.
No one made money, it is not and never will be about money. The venue this year was a music hall that has many uses. The Lions Club, various civic groups, reunions, local card player groups, and musicians
get to use the facility. It is NOT a "club", they don't even have a liquor license. I have doing this to honor Duane for going on 30 years.
From garages to campfire jams, to
train depots to convention halls, it does'nt matter. The people make the show!! Every year, it comes down to all of you who share the love, the spirit, and the honoring of who we
all feel as one of the greatest guitar players ever. The threads today even reach farther than we can ever imagine....and it continues to grow.
Having the Capricorn Band this year with the guys I grew up idolizing was just fantastic. I know each of them have and hold Duane in their hearts as we do.
In doing any event like this, growing so fast, it's going to create
challenges and unforeseen cicumstances that have to be dealt with. We learn from the mistakes and celebrate in the wonderful time
that we all shared together.
From my heart, I want to tell each and every one of you that attended, performed, or just came to check it out, Duane was in that room sat nite,
and probably all week. I felt him there and many of you told me you felt it too. That is the Jam for Duane, all of you, celebrating, honoring, loving
Brother Duane Allman.
