Hey Buppalo. I'm doing my best to support live music. Biketoberfest is winding down here in Daytona, and it's been a grand time, as usual. Great music all over town, and plenty of great "festival" food and drink. I even indulged in an occasional (well, more than an occasional) adult beverage. Patti and I had an especially nice time because we were able to escort some of our Atlanta friends to a few of our haunts, and we all enjoyed some great music. Lets see, Sunday we caught the Confederate Railroad. Sound problems cut their set a little short, but what we heard was great. Only wish the band had continued to play. We later watched a fledgeling soul band self-destruct because they didn' t have an extra guitar cord. We started wondering if it was us. Wednesday found us at the Bank and Blues Club listening to the Razorbacks, who headlined, but really enjoy more an interesting opener named Lauren Ellis, who played a mean slide guitar, and who was quoted in the local paper as being influenced by Duane Allman. Atta way girl! Later that night we heard David Allen Coe at the Iron Horse Saloon in Ormond, and stuck around for one set of the Bear Facts Band (after all it was a school night). Some of you may remember Bear Sauls, who played with Eric Quincy Tate, years ago. Well, he has had health problems, but his band carries on, and they were kicking out some amazing blues. Friday afternoon found us again at the Iron Horse with the Cool Jams Rhythm Section, a local group of musicians from Daytona that play just about everything...then came the Cheap Whisky Band, a nap, and Morning Buzz another local band that plays everything from Beatles to the Brothers. We called it a night, early, because our friends from Atlanta had to pack and check out early Saturday morning. Today was the Danny Charles Band (great guitarists from Daytona), Cool Jams, again, and now I'm going to hit the rack, and if I wake-up before tomorrow morning, we may catch David Allen Coe's last set, and the Bear Facts again. Tomorrow Lauren Ellis is playing at a riverfront restaurant and if the hurricane doesn't blow us away, we'll head down for a fish sandwich, and some slide guitar. Whew! What a week. If you've never been to Daytona for Bikeweek, or Biketoberfest, you should treat yourself to a week of great fun, food, and music. Now that I'm warmed up...I cant wait for the Jam for Duane, next week!
