Hey now!
Karen, regrettably the Mrs. and I won't be making Atlanta, Charlotte or Raleigh. This will be only the third Atlanta show I've missed since '89...the others being the second night at Chastain Park in '90 and the first night at the Fox Theater last year. I'm not exactly happy about it, but I'm grateful and excited (although not as excited as Krishna, I don't think) that we're able to make it Knoxville.
Tim, speaking of the Atlanta show and of 10K road races, I've done at least three or four shows either the day of or the day before the Peachtree Road Race. For those of y'all that aren't familiar, the Peachtree is run on July 4th every year, and it is very much of an Atlanta tradition.
Anyway, one of my all-time favorite Peachtree/Allmans combos was the '98 show in Conyers at the Georgia International Horse Park. I was SO exhausted from the Peachtree that morning, and I just didn't think I was going to make it. I even briefly considered (gasp!) not going. But my friends showed up with plenty of "supplies" and told me to be a man about it and catch my second wind. Thank goodness I did, 'cause that show was one for the ages.
I just read on the listserv that the Houston show Sunday has been postponed. Kind of a bummer, but understandable considering the circumstances. Not sure if that means that the band will try to reschedule this year or what. In the grand scheme of things, I guess it isn't that important.
🙂
