Excellent show at Red Rocks last night. Many thanks to Smilin' Jack and the lovely Phyllis Quinn for putting me up and putting up with me... Great seeing all the friends epecially Tony (the Bird).
Opened with a wiched 20 minute Jessica (Derek Lead then Lead Slide, Warren Lead). Then right into Statesboro Blues (Warren played Lead Slide with standard tuning, Derek Lead). Love the way Warren and Derek mix and match. You never know who will play what. Both played Slide on Ain't Wastin Time No More. Interesting set list, all songs were from early years with the exception of Rockin Hourse and the Instrumental (was tha Egypt - sorry, was still jet lagged). Great Mountain Jam and Whipping Post encore wrapped up an excellent night.
The whole band looked and sounded great. Warren looks good, looks like he took off a few pounds. His voice is so good, really powerful last night. Derek was off the charts. Really powerful and seemed to be putting on a little technical clinic. Oteil was relentless all night. Really opened Whipping Post with a bang. Greg looked and sounded great. Looks like he is sticking with his new routine. The drummers, what can you say about the best in Rock and Roll. Excellent. Butch really is a freigh train. Nice work during Moutain Jam on the 3-way drum solo. Butch and Marc left the stage for I've got Dreams.
Just a great night.
