Finally made it back here to Tampa to recharge before heading to KC in the morning for a couple of evenings with.....
Friday night with Wet Willie in Macon, GA was one of the best Friday night's in recent memory.
Really enjoyed this one from the time I arrived at Goliaths' house. After a brief stopover there we drove on down to Macon via some of the nicest backroads that part of the country has to offer. The ABB show from London, Ontario on 8-17-05 was to be our music for this road trip to Macon for the show.
Once there we met up with banesh(Helen),bluedad(John Howard), Barb Potter, Kyler,Chank,Judi and others. The music is just not the same without being able to share the experience with the great people found around these parts.
I finally got the chance to meet Buzzy82(Tom) and his beautiful wife Lisa and their son.
Tom hardly a day goes by when I don't think about your family.
Another highlight was the chance to talk with Misself via cell-phone. God bless you for what you are doing for others in Mississippi.
Although I have seen Jimmy perform several times in the last couple of years. It has been since 1976 since seeing Wet Willie and the Williettes on stage together. Thru the years many times a certain song brings back memories of a day or a period of time in our lives. The music on Friday night unlocked quite a few memories from the early 70's for me. From "Grit's Ain't Groceries", "Country Side Of Life","Keep On Smiling", "Dixie Rock"I don't think I ever missed a chance to see Wet Willie during those years.
Jimmy remembered those that have recently left us mentioning Little Milton and Buffalo by name. He also reached back to the beginning and mentioned Wet Willies' days of playing with the ABB and memories of playing with and listening to Duane.
If you ever get the chance to see Jimmy Hall don't let it slip by........:-)
