One of the highlights last night for me at the Wet Willie show in Macon, other than Wet Willie kicking total butt, other than Jimmy Hall doing his thing as good as I have ever seen him, other than being with my wonderful friends from here, from Jackson, and Macon, and my brother being there, the highlight for me was that Ella Avery was there with Donna Hall. The Williettes! Had not seen Ella in many years and was stunned and delighted when she came up on stage. Ella is one of the best singers I have ever heard, she should have or could have been a superstar with the right breaks. She is married to Jackie Avery, a legendary musician and band leader, from Gulfport. Jackie was the first person who told Jaimoe about this crazy long haired hippie white boy he had heard at a session in Muscle Shoals who sounded and played like BB King, name of Duane Allman.... The Avery's were devastated by the Storm and Ella is in Middle Georgia staying with her sister until, uh, well...who knows? Keep them in your thoughts and prayers... EAPFP
