Brent and others...thoughts to consider.
The ones with guns firing at helicopters more than likely are the crazies; could be mentally ill folks now possessing a gun. Could even possibly be someone experiencing flashbacks from a war.
Point is this; right now there is a general meld of all types of folks into a huge survival melting pot of society. There is no more class or race division down there. The crazies and psychotic folks are side by side with the middle class and affluent. Add survival and stress to that mix, and you have got a very dangerous social order situation forming.
If they dont hurry up and get those folks out of there, they will start turning on each other.
And might as well throw this one up in the air now; will the military be forced to shoot and kill an American citizen? If so, I hope like hell someone does not start hollering "Kent State". But leave it to some one to do exactly that.
And I am going to express my anger at some liberals right now. On a couple of very liberal radio shows, they were still attacking Bush and tying the situation this Country is in to the Iraq war. Folks, this ain't time to play politics. If you can't support the Office of President right now and the hard...very hard...decisions the leader of our Country has to make right now...decisions that will affect this Country for generations...then the hell with it.
We need leaders right now...strong willed individuals with character who can make decisions and move forward. Therefore, we need to rally behind our President and show support, not necessarily to the man, but to the Office. If your political views cloud your ability to do that, then God help you right now. Your priorities are wrong.
If you hear any media person taking this situation and mixing politics with it, do yourself a favor and ask why. Some folks are driven only about gaining audence share, or to promote and take advantage of situations to advance their agendas. These types or no different than looters in my opinion for they take advantage of situations to advance their point. Be careful.
OK, I am off my soapbox about that. It just ticked me off to hear some radio blowhard acting like they have all the answers when the fact is they no nothing about logistics or public health matters or disaster recovery issues.
And a by the way thing happened to me this morning I want to share with you guys. We have folks in Birmingham that hold up "homeless please help" signs next to entrances/exits along the interstate. You know, we all got 'em. Mostly, these folks are simply bums who won't work for money. Well today a guy is holding up a sign that said "New Orleans homeless please help". So, at the stop light, I roll down my window and ask a simple question ....
"You from New Orleans, huh?"
"Yep"
"OK, tell you what. I got a hundred bucks for you but first tell me your street address in New Orleans.."
"Um, Um...." (silence)
"I thought so" And drove off.
Amazing.
