Now to some fun stuff: Those that have been keeping up are aware of the mucicians coming for the Jam this year, I had the priveledge of attending rehearsal last night. As it is billed as a Cowboy reunion, that is what I expected, and we got some of that. If you take out your old records you will find these names appearing on a much greater body of work. It is from that body that the setlists will be drawn. That's all I'm sayin'--I'll just let it hit you upside the head like it did me and SPDB and WillieHoward last night. Needless to say, this is the greatest collection of musicians our little town has ever seen. To see the list, check the Jam for Duane thread in the Forum AG. We had a nice chat with Mrs. Sandlin last night, talk of how all those onstage had never had jobs outside the music business, how it couldn't have happened without Duane. We talked about how they would still have all been musicians, but that we would probably never heard of them. She also credited Phil Walden, Rick Hall, told of how these and Jerry Wexler worked together to lay the groundwork for Macon. The L word came up, not for this year, bidness in Vancouver, next year likely. Nice to know we're on the radar screen, the Stones may need to schedule around us next year. I'm 57, overweight, got a family history, probably drink too much, don't know from year to year what life will bring. Last night, I felt like Moses at the top of Mount Nebo. I at least got to see the Promised Land, a land "flowing with milk and honey," (and good music!) I also became more aware of how much some of you have been doing behind the scenes to help. Thank you so very much, especially if your first name is Carol!! I noticed a couple of spots in the rehearsal last night where another instrument might fit--maybe a sax or fiddle. I'm still hoping for a surprise or two. Man, is it October yet?? EAPFP
