Way to go Deb!!!
'Bout time you guys got a break.
Any report from Punta Gorda? Hope there was no setback in the repair efforts.
Well, I know I sound like a broken record sometimes, but I gotta' say what I saw in Chattanooga last night was just amazing. The Skydogs opened for a reggae band at a benefit, their first appearance in Chatt. Apparently those folk don't get top-quality stuff like this at the clubs very often. A twentysomething, heavily tattood, multiracial crowd, the venue was not in an exclusive area. No air conditioning. No doubt most came for the reggae band. About the time the 'Dogs finished their second number, Hotlanta, with the Dickey WP dirge at the end, everybody had gathered around the stage, much like the DTB shows I've been to. As the set progressed, somebody, trying to be a wise*ss hollered out, "Blue Sky!" Boy, they got it--with both barrels! It was fun watching these youngun's singing along!
The 'Dogs closed with the full You Don't Love Me from LAFE, the appreciative crowd flocked to the stage to offer thanks.
Brent Sibley is one of the best out there...period.
And we think alike on the LS replacement situation too. Jimmy Hall and the Prisoners of Love, w/Bro. Jack, Col. Bruce w/Herring, Tinsley, Donna Hopkins, Lefty, Thackery....nothing against moe, I don't know them....but these guys have paid their dues--quality musicians that deserve a wider audience, IMHO.
