Hey All,
Interesting discussion about the Brandy House/Jake's rivalry in Atlanta. It should be said that many fine people work at the Brandy House, and I have seen many of the same great shows there that some of you have. The Col. Bruce run with guests including Warren, Jimmy, Derek, John Popper, John Herman from Widespread, etc. was truly one of the greatest homestands in the history of live music. I remember that Freeway Jam with Jimmy, Warren sitting in on a Lovelight so good it hurt, and John Popper bringing the house down with Superstition. Some of the best jams I have ever heard came from that run.
However, the Brandy House has seemed to get less and less jam-friendly over the years, with the staff making no effort to keep that relationship healthy. They are going to make their money selling food and drinks to the Buckhead crowd whether the true music lovers come or not, so Jake's is picking up the slack.
