Comparing Derek to Duane is a true waste of time. Especially if you want to compare musical talent. They are so totally different it is impossible to me. The real issue is leadership and passion. Duane's real gift to the ABB was his ability to drag everyone to the highest common denominator, even when they weren't sure they could get there. The band now consists of seasoned professionals with a 35 year roadmap of Duane's vision. It is a hell of a lot harder to create a vision than it is to perfect one!
