The article Eliot posted shows the mindset the band and southern people in general have had to deal with for generations. I know I probably mention it too often, and it's getting better.
But I believe it explains why Duane is only now beginning to receive the respect he deserves. "The Allman Brothers Band is all about sex, drugs, and Cher." No mention at all of music?
If the South was still as backward as the author believes, his work would have value. But now we all have indoor plumbing.
