Good discussion on show quality. I agree there are a lot of factors that go into assessing a show, of which sometimes has nothing to do with quality of music. Saw the Nissan show the other night and while musically it was a fine show, the vibe was lacking. Not a big crowd, generic shed, etc. I am sure that when I hear that show again I will think that it was a great show musically. Yet attending it, not all the parts connected for me.
Saw the May 5 show at the Greek and it was not as strong musically but beautiful venue, crowded and I was with my best bud who I hadn't seen in awhile. Better time. I guess that's why people get so stoked about the weekend shows at the Beacon. Nothing like the crowd intensity, the venue and the band clearly gets off on it. Great Woods is also a good venue for the band, hmmm.
