One of the best parts of the Friday gig was watching all the pedestrians out on Broad Street watching thru the window. There's almost no market for quality music in this area. Everything is country and hip-hop. There was a quality group of 35-40 inside, totally into what was going on. Folks out on the street pondered it all for awhile, then moved on to the new hip-hop venue. I wonder if their lives will ever be as full as ours. The last set was all open jamming. Some folks put up a list on Twitter. Nothing more fun than watching true musicians playing for their own entertainment, at the limit of their ability. On Broad Street, in my little town, for no cover. And to a crowd that "gets it" and appreciates it and loves it. Todd Smallie is a class act and helluva musician. I hope life works out so that he can spend more time here. We got Col. Bruce and Pharoah Gummit coming in on Apr. 13 and we're already lobbying for Flannel Church. All this is courtesy of co-owner Shawn McCoy, who underwrites the fun for the rest of us. A huge thank-you. Oh, and thanks for the beer!
