i posted this on the list serv but it was too much typing not to post here too ๐Ÿ™‚ Well, last night we opened the new House of Blues in Atlantic City (at the Showboat casino) in grand style..... I got to A/C about 6ish, just in time to meet up with my fellow Sweeties and some other friends....a group of them had already been in the venue and where quite excited about the setup....basically a large balcony with seating, and a wide open concrete floor in front of the stage with bars all along the perimeter. The staff was courteous and helpful. I watched the first set from right in front of warren in general admission while he wore us out with "No Need to Suffer" and the raucous "Slackjaw Jez". BadLittleDoggie (leah marie) and my soul sista Jaquie danced our asses off....at the end of the first set, Warren looked me dead in the eye and then almost took it out with a flying Chinese Star pick...it fell to the floor right at my feet (and left a mark on my cheek)....gee, thanks warren *ouch* (lol!) During the second set I stayed in the back (seemed to be safer there....) and watched the show from near the soundboard and watched Slim do the mixing for the Mule tracks.....more room to dance back there anyway....and that is precisely what I did during a smoking "Effigy".... Oh, warren did a cover of "Thatโ€™s What Love Will Make You Do" - a song that I have always loved from Jerry Garcia's Compliments album.....that was cool.... So, as usual, a great show, I enjoyed he first set was better than the second, but the second did sport a rather cool drum solo from Matt. It was cool watching my friends up in the balcony completely blissed out from the experience...apparently the staff moved them to some sort of special couches right above the stage...lucky ducks! Man, my feet where SORE at the end of the night! For those interested parties, I would like to add that Danny Louis did a fine job last night of not getting on my nerves seeing as he found his place in the mix last night and just stayed in it.....Also, it seems to me that Andy Hess is really starting to fit in nicely and makes a great contribution to the band.....I hope the girls and I are making him fell comfy since four of them were sporting "Hess is More" shirts, courtesy of Angela Emerald....mine is on order ๐Ÿ˜‰ In summary, a good time was had by all, my second mule show of the month is a fond memory, and my ass is spent today from dancing all freaking night.
