Hey Hop...beeeutiful review buddy! I felt like I was right there with ya! Sounds like you actually had some interaction with the band too while you were groovin' to the fine music being played...
We all know you can't always judge a show by the setlist - I learned that lesson with The Dead too for years - but in this case when I read the songs that were played and in the order they were played plus the fact it was in a great musical city - you just know this show was special...and judging from Hop's review it certainly was! I love that Jessica has made it back in the rotation. Even though these recent ones are obviously without Chuck, I can say I have a few versions from 2001 with no Chuck as well and they honestly SMOKED!...it gives Derek the an empty canvas to come up with something new and interesting and I'm all about that - exploration and flying by the seat of your pants. Isn't that what its about?
On a closing note, isn't it so much better when you get these "An Evening With..." shows in the summer? You get a better setlist, longer jams and just an overall more creative looking show in general. I know this double-bill deal brings in more fans but who's fans?...not our fans...ya know? ..."An Evening With The Allman Brothers Band"...I really like the sound of that...
Peace
Happy Birthday Marley!...you little Yoda...LOL!
