just read the blount review and BT's response...
i carried that issue of "Strolling Moan" around with me for weeks, read and re-read the article, lingered over the pictures...why?
the loss of duane allman at that moment in time was just too raw and that story was something to hold onto. it was very shallow in its portrayal of the band as coke/sex fiends as well (as reddog did in his book - hey, at the time i was doing my best to realize those ends as well!)...the image many bands cultivated.
zappa: " Rock journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read. " (apologies to marley and HTN and all of us)
videos, articles, biographies et. al. about music are a poor substitute for the music itself...we just watched the miles davis story, a nice biopic, but no substitute for listening to miles...
in the end, it's all about the music...the rest is PR.
back to the woodwork now.
