TanDan -- DiMeola was great. Very proficient at what he does. It was a gut-string/classical guitar performance with a Latin feel to it. No band...just Al and Manueal Barrueca. I was most impressed with Manuel, who is more of a traditional classical-trained guitarist. It was quite interesting to see how fluid and almost effortless Barrueca made what he played look. Of course, those chops are by no means effortless in reality, but the classical-style made it appear so. DiMeola flat-picked everything he played, so it looked like much more of an effort. It was just real neat to compare the approach each took. But I thought it was great. Lots of really beautiful tunes, and even better playing. But alas, no "Mediterranean Sundance." I also saw John McLaughlin (with Trilok Gurtu) back around '89 or so at the Center Stage Theatre here in Atlanta. But I've never been able to see Paco de Lucia yet, so I've got one more to go before getting to see the whole trifecta. Maybe I'll get the chance to see all three of them play together some time before I die. I highly advise anyone in the Atlanta area to check out Spivey Hall, if you've never been. It's nestled on the campus of the beautiful Clayton State College, and seats about 450. It is very intimate, and the hall is considered among the best nationwide for its acoustics. It truly is a gem. http://spiveyhall.org
