here is what I find scary....Lil Kevin's first day of Junior High...he calls me after school (fromthe Principles office, oy) not to worry, he had been invited by the High School Baseball Coach to join the HS Ball Club in the weight room....(Im falling on my knees, thanking the Good Lord) Less than 20 minutes later (from our Junior to Senior High School is a 5 minute walk) he calls me back again to tell me the boys are passing around needles and shooting up steroids, what should he do? (falling down on my knees again, to thank the Good Lord) ....Growing up in NYC, Ive seen the damage needles do..though I had no clue about steroids at the time.....I broke the 30 mph speed limit here in our sleepy town that day....I about ripped the coach a new you know what..He couldnt believe I was upset about this. Didnt I know boys moved here , from all over the country to play ball (for him) in SW FLA? I should be kissing his you know what...I was the only parent to complain.
Needless to say, after Junior High, we found a HS where academics were emphasized as much as athletics, plus they had a zero policy on ANY kind of drugs, enhancemnet, or otherwise....He played ball on a 500 plus team..(Lil Kevin's bat beat our home-town team, both times we faced them, in tournaments) did a little wrestling.... B-ball, and passed all his grades (albeit not with the flying colors every parent wants to see waving) I shudder to think what happens to our children, with this kind of pressure . IMHO
Hi Tyler..I agree about Gregg....he looks and sounds better and better everytime we go see him. Clean and sober since nov 98 has saved his life and made him a better man. IMHO Ca
