Hey Y'all... Thanks for the posts on the ACLS. Yes, ACLS it Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and it is difficult to get certified. Actually, I was the only RN in my group; the remaining folkis were either paramedics or MD's. Generally, if there is a code within a hospital, the code team will respond. That Code team varies, but generally is made up of an MD as team leader, an RN, someone from pharmacy and someone from respiratory therapy. The ACLS code team administers CPR, but also defibs the patient and administers various drugs, depending on what is causing the heart failure or stroke. Outside the hospital, paramedics are ACLS certified and get the ball rolling until they arrive at the hospital, like administering oxygen, starting an IV, meds, and defib and intubating (i.e. providing an airway) (Dan--not in that order, HahA!). And I took the class at the Dept. of Emergency Medicine at UAB which was good because the instructor is a paramedic. Personally, since paramedics intubate and are first responders to so many MI's, I would rather learn from them anyways. It was nerve racking because part of the exam was one on one with the instructor; she flipped up an EKG and you had to identify what it was and what interventions were necessary and peel those onions back... But thanks anyways. We tend to share various things that go on in our lives, so I wanted to share that with you farts here in the GB. Not bragging, it was something I wanted to share with Dan primarily. Our love gift goes to Tyler soon and I am glad he is getting things sent to him. Lastly, a thought came to mind. Gregg says he is getting tired of touring and going out on the road; can't blame him there. We travel to far away parts to see them, is it time now to look to Gregg and ask why dont we look into a club in his hometown or Macon, like a HOB where the Brothers could play on a regular basis? In other words, is it time for us to come to him/them rather than they come to us?????? RT
