First of all I want to thank everyone for their best wishes and other posts. Keeping in mind that I have not been to a concert since 1976(although I have played some with country stars), here is my review. Marty and I left Pittsburg about 3 pm for a drive that should have taken about 1 and a half hours. We got lost. Might have been the pot. I thought the doors opened at 5, so I am freaking out, Marty is laid back taking a few hits. He says not to worry. We finally get their at 6. The doors didn't open till 6 so everything is cool. I pull up in my wheelchair and the first one in line is Leigh. So cool. We go in and I say to the man taking tickets that Cains had told me that they would put me in a special place. About that time Leigh walks up and says come with her, she will get me right up front, which she did. So cool. So I am sitting right up against the stage barrier, 10 feet from where Warren will be standing. I look at the stage and see the opening act(Particle) equipment. Behind their equipment is the famous Diaz,Soldano amp heads of Warren Haynes. By this time I am getting goose bumps. There is Matt's Slingerland drum kit, Andy's Roland Bass amp and Danny's B-3 and Leslie. There is also a Leslie behind Warrens gear. Particle comes on and plays kind techno music, not my style, heavy on the keyboards and drums. The guitar player looks bored. They are very loud which was fine if I liked their music, but I didn't. They played 5 songs. Then out comes Little Warren and the other GM roadies. Now I am pumped. They move everything up to the front of the stage. It is clear that I will be 10 feet from Warren. It takes them about 25 minutes to get things ready. I asked Marty how many peoiple were there because I can't turn my neck(arthritis) and can't turn my wheelchair because we are packed in like sardines. Everyone was standing except me, but everyone around me are so kind that they would not let anyone crowd me or obstruct my view. Very cool poeple. Marty says that when particle started the place was a quarter full, but now they could not get one more person in the building. Ready for take off. The light go down. Marty and Leigh nudge me and say "look there is Warren." I couldn't see him because I was sitting down. Then all of a sudden the lights come up, the place goes wild, really wild, and there is GM with Warren the rock legend, the Allman Brother, the songwriter, the guitar genius going into Blind Man in the Dark. The volume was 3 times as loud as the first band, and I am in heaven. I think to myself, there could not be a better place on earth to be but here. Matt's Bass drum and Andy's Bass are so loud that it rock the whole place. Warren's Les Paul is whaling, Danny is pounding on the keys and everyone is going nuts. Warren smiles often. Matt smiles often. Danny and Andy look at each other most of the time. The band is so tight, it is amazing. They do Slackjaw , Think You Know, Bertha D, Sam, Everday(which I think is the song that had everyone misty eyed), Monkey, and Thorazine Shuffle. First set over. I am in another world by now, their roadie hand me Warren's set list. Very cool, that's a keeper. They come back out but not before they put another guitar amp in the middle of the stage. We are all wondering who it would be. It turned out to be Particle's lead player. Remember I said he looked bored during their set. Not this time, he was all smiles, realizes he is the presence of greatness and plays very well because of it. Warren looks at him and smiles. I could almost read Warren's mind-----"that was pretty good youngin, but here is how you do it. Warren simply wails through the second set, breaks a string, plays with five for a while, then decides to get it fixed, so Matt does a drum solo. After about five minutes of very fine drumming, Danny joins him on his piano, trading licks with Matt back and forth. Also very cool. Then Warren come back, they go into Bad Little Doggie and I thought the place was going to fall apart. The only song they did not play was Soulshine, but I have to say that I witnessed last night the best concert by some of the best musicians in the world. Anyone who has seen the current lineup knows this, those who haven't are in for a treat. That is my story and I am sticking to it. Leigh you are the greatest. So are the people at Cains.
