I thought the Gregg show last night was great. Made the one I saw in Macon in '00/'01 (can't quite remember) seem sorry. The band was outstanding and Gregg seemed to be having a great time. He skipped singing an entire verse of Midnight Rider (on purpose, I swear) since the crowd had it nailed, when they finished he looked up and smiled broadly in approval. Lovelight and Can't Turn You Loose (think Blues Brothers if the song title is not ringing a bell) were highlights with much crowd participation. Great to see him change the setlist a bit, shows he is into what he is doing this tour. Robben was very good, had some interesting takes on Melissa, as Tim mentioned, as well as Multi-colored Lady. Tim the song that Robben was given room to play on was Ocean Awash the Gunwale, the first encore. Other songs in the set included but were not limited to: Whipping Post, House of Blues, Don't Keep Me Wonderin, Just Before the Bullets Fly, I'm no Angel, Statesboro Blues, Floyd's standard tunes, and so on.The band played for about an hour and 45 mins. Got a chance to talk with Bill Ector for a couple a minutes, nice to see you man. Got a question for you, what song did Gregg start playing when we were talking, before we walked in to check it out? When it first started I thought it was going to be Please Call Home but it was something else that I was not familiar with. Alright that is about all I got, not a bad way to spend a Monday evening at all!
Take care,
Ryan
