Went to the Warren all star band last night. Very tough for a week night, started at 11. That being said, I think the lineup he had last night of Matt Abts, John Medeski, and Dave Schools should be the Govt Mule. They were smokin'. I left early because i have to be at work early and have an hour commute, but the stuff that I saw was fantastic. Sco-Mule was a sick jam, and Hey Joe was fantastic, as was 32-20 Blues with Skerrick on sax. A minor gripe....Bowery Ballroom is great place to see a show, but the place is extraordinarily mis-managed. They say doors open at nine, I think I was standing outside until a little after 10. Instead of issuing tickets, you just show your credit card and they check off your name, but that takes a lot longer than ripping a ticket. Then inside I felt like they were very understaffed at the bar, I saw a girl getting all fired up at the bartender who was working his butt off, yet this girl was yelling at him because she was waiting forever. If they had one more person, they could have alleviated some stress. I thought the girl was an ingrate for yelling at this guy when he was working like a dog. Incidentally, the band walked right by us on the way in....they must have hit a skunk on the way over because that was the smell that wafted by as they walked past.
