WOW- Dear Brothers and Sisters- Thank you ever so kindly for all the warm fuzzy Birthday wishes you folk posted-AND all the private emails as well! Just got home from my own "Endless Summer PEACHPArtY" gig with my band PEACHjAM up here in Woodstock-and it was well worth it. We had keyboard player Pete Levin on as special guest- *(he is brother to bassist extrodinaire Tony Levin) and man he jazz-smoked Reed and "Don't Mess up a Good Thing". But the real excitement for tonight to share with Y'all is the guitar man known as Chris "Smokin Opey" Damato! Beware fellow Peach-heads- for those of you not hip to this cat- just ask Jaimoe-or Debbie Davies. I copped him one night when I went to see Jai play with a local group of Conn. cats. I liked what I saw and heard. I asked Jai and he connected me with Opey. He has since been the most exciting new member of PEACHjAM-and as I told Jai recently- "he's like this cat I wish I knew back in high school-a long-lost friend/bandmate I never had"! Well let me tell you Familia- Woodstock NY is full of a lot of heavy *(Legend in their own mind) musician snobs-many who have played and still do play w/a lot of heavy cats-and kittens. But after tonight- we reminded many up here just exactly WHO the disciples of Duane & Berry are! And our Brothers in Heaven I KNOW were shining down on us tonight! There are going be a lot people buzzing tomorrow and thereafter about "that Smokin Opey cat" from Conn.! And I am ever so proud. The mushroom rose tonight over the Hudson Valley very firm and in fine form! Wooof am I buzzin right now! I wish y'all could've been there to have seen the faces on these folk who are NOT normally tuned into our kind of music. We hit them with tunz by Jimmy Hall-Herbie Mann-Boz- Gregg- Jerry- Eric- John Hammond and Duane-Coltrane- and yes, the ABB. As well as some of our/Opey's originals. We ended w/about 3 encores-and they STILL stood there stompin! OK, I should go to bed! When I spoke with Sista Pammy on the way to the gig she said-"better look at the GB later". And wow- I just did and obviously between the PeachParty and all the good vibes-I wont be able to sleep! Y'all "know that you are loved":-) borrowed that from Lana thank you! And give yourselves all a hug because we here in the extended ABB family are a very special lot! We know good music-and it seems like there are alot of folk out there that still need a good preachin' to! Love-Tommy "TAB" Booth *Hey and you know-for all you coming up to NYC for the Beacon in March-you are all invited to come up to historic Woodstock (1.5 hrs north of NYC) on Friday 3/25 if you not actually at an ABB show. You can either car pool w/ Pammy or others OR take a cool bus ride up- and come see PEACHjAM when we play that night! Next day you can sightsee/shop or whatever up here in the beautiful Catskill Mountains as Woodstock IS a very cool town! AND...If Brother Brent Sibley comes up *(as threatened 🙂 with Brother Buppalo-Brent will have a spot onstage w/PEACHjAM *(as threatened all these years)! So there- how's that for a shingig of an outing up in NY? 🙂
