It was a privilege to meet TanDan, ATLcherokee, Smokinop, Slidemon, Ryan, and others (I apologize for my poor memory!) at the Yacht Club before the show, so as to put some names with faces. Thanks, guys. My wife and I had plans to eat Mexican food at El Myr before the show and we were running late, so after brief introductions to the folks at the table at the YC, we moseyed on down the street.
How little did we know how late we were. It took us an hour to get served with food at El Myr--by that time, the line outside the VP was forming, so we agreed that I would leave the table and grab a place in line while my wife ate; after she finished, she brought me a take-out box from the table, and I ate while standing in line. The folks at El Myr were kind enough to charge us for her dinner only since they were so late in getting the food to us.
However, to show me once again what a small world it is, we ran into Flournoy Holmes, the artist who did the EAP album artwork, at the restaurant. We had met previously on the opening day of the Fox Run in Atlanta back in September (some friends at my office had arranged for us to meet then as a birthday present for me), and he recognized me in my EAP shirt again Saturday night. He brought us up to date on his latest projects. What a nice guy.
As for the show: Wow! Hophead, JNB, Libby, et al.--your descriptions of the show were excellent; thank you very much memorializing it in such fine fashions! It was truly a privilege to be there last night. After I got home, I couldn't go to sleep till about 4 a.m. with all the great music and visions of Gatemouth, Gregg, Susan, et al., still reeling through my head.
Now I've got to get to work, since the General Assembly convenes tomorrow--after that begins, I won't come up much for air until the Spring (with one exception: I do plan to see Gregg again at the Tabernacle in February). Hope everyone out there has a great Winter!
