VERY sketchy, indeed! I'll play: Places I've seen the ABB: Charlotte Coliseum - 1 Blockbuster / Verizon (Charlotte) - 11 Alltel / Walnut Creek (Raleigh) - 8 North Charleston Coliseum - 1 Fox Theatre (Atlanta) - 4 Red Rocks - 4 Nissan Pavilion (Manassas, Va) - 1 Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre (Virginia Beach, Va) - 1 Asheville Civic Center - 1 Salem (Va) Civic Center - 1 Beacon Theatre - 26 Places I most want to see the ABB where they're likely to play: Paolo Solieri Amphitheatre The Gorge The Warfield Great Woods at some huge multi-day festival that's kind to old folks & families like us (i.e., not Woodstock 3 or Bonnaroo) Favorite places to see the ABB, specifically for the music & not the social and other aspects: The Charlotte and Raleigh sheds, anywhere in the first 10 rows in section 2 (you can't beat the crowds for being there specifically for the Brothers & for being knowledgeable & enthusiastic, plus, my most-loved ABB shows have ALWAYS been with Beth... AND, if you've never been in the first 10 rows of a Brothers show on a hot night in the mid-summer with a nearly 50 - 50 ratio of guys to gals all dancing and groovin' all sweaty and sexy like a big old love-in is about to bust out right THERE -- can I get a witness to, say, Charlotte & Raleigh '02 & '03? uh-HUH!). The Beacon (my family does NOT come to NY for these shows) -- long shows, played for keeps in front of an audience full of people who demand the A game, and who shape the course of the business and of the band -- last year's second weekend, oh BABY! -- last year's closing night, oh MAN -- every year at the Beacon, I have some insight into something I'd never quite grasped before -- a preseason tournament played like it was the Final Four! ) & The Fox (the best aspects of the Beacon & the NC sheds, what can ya say) so, of those 59 shows (what a newby!), I'd say about 25 or 30 of 'em are in the top ten, and best of all, having started seeing them fairly recently (1991), the music and the experiences have only grown sweeter and more rewarding, intellectually & musically with each new year. my goal this year is to see more than 7 shows. for a few years there, 7 was about enough, musically (the fun was never enough) but in the last couple years -- and my lovely bride agrees on this -- 25 wouldn't be enough. (oh, and after seeing dTb do MFT just PERFECTLY last week, and knowing they broke out Birdland in Atlanta on NYE, mmm, I think another goal would be to see the band do those, full-on, really really soon!) (in a world of limited resources, Instant Lives, tickets and travel to actual shows, or tuition for 2 kids? what's a mother --- ahem -- to do!) see ya in New York -- if I walk past you like I did't see or hear you, it's because I didn't. grab me by the arm, look me in the eye, remind me who you are, and be careful i don't drool on your nice clothes. my head has a tendency to siften and melt on road trips. that tibetan hat is there to keep my head from becoming permanently misshapen as it cools down & resolidifies... meet me at the Wall of Lox!!! (now THERE's a scavenger hunt for Beacon 1st timers - first, find the Wall of Lox...) back to deepest South Lurkia -- good luck on tickets everyone!
