Just in from Atlanta, would have been back sooner, but the line for the GGM Instant Live DVD was sooo long....
The music was wonderful, but again secondary to spending time with quality people. My old running buddy, Johnny, whom some of you met at the Fox, was co-pilot. He has a leg problem, can't walk far, I drop him off in front of VP and park. When I get back, I'm informed the show is a total sellout. Folks everywhere looking for tickets. Uh-oh. We had already spotted David and Ellen walking down the street, see them again out front, joined by Libby and Pam. Count M'butu comes up, we talk at length about our common friend Harry Case. I go on a pilgrimage for tickets, walk around back looking for a friendly face, find Cee Cee, but no ticket. Back to the front, Patrick Crenshaw has arrived and is aware of our plight. He calls over TanDan who takes Johnny in. Patrick insists I take his ticket and go on in too, says he can get another. He does--about an hour later. Won't let me even pay for the one he let me have. Inside, meet Ryan Belair and Dawn (I think) and HotlantaTim. We get good seats, the seats directly behind us are occupied at various times by Goliath, Rob Johnson, Libby, Patrick, Pam. Hophead stops by. I spot Great Scott during the break, meet Nicole for the first time. Scott did good...real good. Also got to spend a little quality time with Bill Ector. Great show, Susan was a special treat. I'll let others discuss the music, I'll just say the dTb has set the bar very, very high and tonight's show may have moved it up another notch. Visited outside after the show with Mr. Joe, Bill, and Pam, absoloutely didn't want to part company with some of the most special people that have passed through my little world. But a full day of work lies ahead tomorrow, not even time to watch Bama's bowl game. But time to watch the Skydogs open for Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang tomorrow night. See y'all next year.
