A story to share...
Several years ago, I was front row at Five Points Music Hall at a GAF show. Right before the muci started, I gave out this huge "Happy Birthday" to Gregg, and he looked right at me at waved that off, as if to say "I'm old"
Well, Gregg, you ARE old. But I say that in the most caring and supportive way, because the odds were not in your favor Brother.
Todayis his Brother's Birthday, and I often wonder how Gregg reacts to that; I guess in much the same way as anyone who has lost a brother or sister. I think about that perspective because it saddens me for Gregg and his family.
But then again, things like the Jam and the sentiments posted here and so forth should offer some measure of comfort for Gregg in that his brother is never forgotten.
I think there are many folks out there who loved Duane. He obviously was very cool to be around. Everyday Joes like myself still buy and listen to his music and help to keep his legacy alive with the spirit of his music. I never met Duane, but then again, I have over the years been around folks who have, and I guess other than his magic with a guitar was that I never heard anyone, musician or otherwise, who hung around the cat speak badly about him. THAT alone makes him cool in my book.
Happy Birthday Duane. I am glad you were around to share your vibe.
