Hello everyone! This is a very late and short review on the Mule show last Friday in Indy - suffice to say they seriously kicked arse! I tend to lower my expectations when bands pass thru Indy - we tend to be 'in between' bigger cities/better venues/etc...throw in the fact that the boys drove from Alabama to get here...I thought they may mail it in a bit. Boy, was I wrong! There were a little over 30 people in our group and we were all blown away. They started with Lola and never looked back. Setlist was VERY fresh and surprising - the band sounded great, although I thought Danny was turned down just a bit. (That may have been due to where I was standing?)
The closed the 1st set with Patchwork Quilt - which I hadn't heard them do, I Shall Return (one I was hoping to hear) into Drift Away back into Return. Just GREAT! Then opened the 2nd set with Wild Horses - nice touch. Well before the show I said to Josh 'I know we won't get it but I'd love a BIG, FAT 32/20 Blues'. Well, the stars lined up and guess what the first encore was? Yep. A BIG, FAT 32/20 Blues. Final encore was Soulshine - a Mammoth Soulshine, I might add.
As always they certainly left me wanting more. As much as I love the ABB I definitely would love to be able to see Mule more often - wow! But obviously he can't tour any more than he already does!
