Hi Eitan,
No ruffled feathers here...the cost for the complete set is a lot of dough - and we always try to listen to input from folks like yourself. Someone was talking about this on E-mule today and here is what I reponded with:
Several people mentioned your post on e-mule to me today and I wanted to respond. I didn't see it directly as I am not a member (ironically, my job keeps me from surfing the web too much!) but I hope that I address your points about the 2004 Complete Summer Set of Instant Live CDs...
The retail value of the 24 shows is $545 and the 35th Anniversary/Summer Set Commemorative Case cost about $150.00 It is a custom made, hard, black case with metallic corners made to look like the road cases from the Fillmore East picture with stenciled lettering, handle, latches, etc.
The road goodies are pretty cool too - I wish I could tell you what they all are but the ABB management would rather make it a surprise. When you throw in the poster, HTN subscription and all, - it adds up to $726 plus the goodies.
While I agree that it is a high price, the decision was made to offer a quality, collectible piece of memorabilia in this 35th anniversary year. We tried to have a price point for everyone with a small (Fox Box), medium (West Best)and large set of products (Complete Summer Set).
Hope this helps explain some of the thinking,
Best Regards,
JNB
