Good morning y'all! Happy B-day Shey and Jody. Well I've decided to give y'all my thoughts on 3-22-02. Ok! Ok! I'll keep it short. It certainly sounds like a great show! Everyone who got to go I'm so jealous.:p The first set although good appears to be alittle demure (Is that the word I'm looking for?) as compared to the second set where the ABB comes out blazing. Rocking Horse appears to be some kind of talisman for the band!:) On the new songs, first of all it was so good to here 'em. However, I must agree with whoever posted who said they don't seem finished i.e. riffs, fills, harmonies etc. especially High Cost. If they have already recorded this song as is, then they are not doing it justice. I love Old Before My Time. I believe it was Marley who said it reminded him of a Scott Boyer tune. I second that and again hope this isn't the final version of the song. I enjoyed the instramental, but I'd say it has a way to go before getting near a Betts caliber tune. Let me say that I like all the new stuff just that it's kind of like pasta al dente (sp?) it didn't seem done to me with the exception of .......... Firing Line. This song rocked right out of the box even if the riff isn't very original. It is like Kid Funkadelic told me personally "You can't fake the funk!" The ABB aren't faking on this tune. As for Woman Across The River, I wasn't a big fan of this song when Freddy did it. I dug Palace of the King off that record. I believe both of those tunes were written by Brother Leon's Shelter cronies. Like they was tryin' to hep po Freddy out and I'm sure they did. If they are going to Brotherize a Freddy tune and they should, why not pick something like What You Going To Do When The Welfare Turn It's Back On You? Hot damn! I love that tune. How bout you Sista Bluz? I know you do too. Anyway I love 3-22-02. Thank you! Thank you brother Goliath for your kindness. And I'd like to say that in real life I'm not the critical whiner I appear on the GB although don't ask my wife. Butch Trucks told me personally that yes he is bummed that the new CD is coming out next year, but he believes it'll be worth the wait after hearing 3-22-02 I tend to agree. Have a great day y'all! Peace.:)
