If you saw the last debate Kerry said that he would be adding considerably more than 30,000 to our forces, including two full special forces units (the kind of forces needed to fight the wars we are fighting now and in the future). He was very specific in stating that we were undermanned and that Bushes back door draft would not serve our needs and that he was committed to adding the forces we need to get the job done. Bush said nothing nor has he said anything about increasing the size of our forces. Somehow it has become ingrained in us to believe that the democrats will expand social services and cut military spending no matter what the facts say. Since Reagan it has been the Republicans that have expanded the government to unprecedented levels and the Democrats that have not only reduced the deficit but created the biggest surplus in our history. Clinton did reduce the size of our military forces at a time of peace. We are now at war. See above for what Kerry has said he would do.
