Rick - Interesting point about Reagen, however the 11 years the Soviet Union spent getting their butts kicked in Afghanistan did a lot more to bankrupt the USSR than anything Reagen did. The 100+ (it will probably end up being twice that) billion we are going to spend in Iraq is a REALLY scary parallel to that senario.
As for getting onto different topics, this is the most important election in 50 years so I think we should talk as much as possible and vote our convictions.
One last topic - I spouted off yesterday about the comments that I was somehow a traitor to my country for not liking Bush. I'm still really upset that we have somehow turned opinion into patriotism or lack thereof. That is such a crock. I'm a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution and my family has fought in every war for America since 1774. The fact that I don't like Bush has nothing to do with my love for the country, or my unwavering support for the troops on the ground whether I believe they should be there or not. Even if I beleive the policy is flawed I want every American to come home alive. I don't think that is Bush's agenda, that is why I don't like him.
