I just told this story (but it's true) to someone in a PM and I thought you guys would enjoy it, so here goes:
Rusty commented about rude fans in his thread in the Forum. I had my own close encounter in the Georgian Terrace when I got on the elevator to head down to Lee's room for the pre-party on Sunday before the show. I'm alone until it stops on like the 6th floor (I was upgraded to a single suite on the top floor with my own sitting room, and a FANTASTIC view of Midtown, thank you very much) and who gets on but Warren Haynes and his bodyguard, I guess. I don't say anything because I find fawning fans disgusting and repellant.
Anyway, I have my Duane shirt on so he knows I'm a fan.
This drunk yuppie couple get on the next floor and the chick gets right in Warren's face and literallly starts drooling all over him saying, "Aren't you Warren Haynes? I remember when you used to work in cover bands playing the Holiday Inn Circuit. That was a long time ago," to which Warren, looking at me, says very politely, "Yes, that was a VERY long time ago," and then gives me this look like, can you believe this sh!t? Get me outta here! and he DID get the hell offa that elevator, as I would have if I were him.
Then again, I WERE him....never mind.
Next up-Butch's elevator speech.
Don't miss it!
