ok.....great info. I will listen to splinters today (I knew I had heard it before somewhere, just could not remember where). As for 44, well, I had to laugh a little. Like Smokestack Lightning, the timing for 44 is well, black blues. White guys generally dont get it. It was interesting to hear how Butch and Marc were trying like hell to keep the timing from breaking down to a basic 3/4, and JJ was right on it. During the solo, if you will listen you hear a timing change to allow the downbeart to anchor it down, then they go back to the offbeat stuff...its hard to do, and I give them credit for trying to mimic that old blues groove. Another question. Did anyone notice the rythym for Reed Sunday night? Butch got away from the general jazz feel and basically held time, playing in 4/4. It sounded very different and I was wondering about that. Still would like to know if anyone saw Berry's picture up on the screen Sunday night. Thanks Rick Tomlinson
