Wow. Just to get it all in one place... I Les Brers jam> Don't Want You No More> It's Not My Cross to Bear Statesboro Blues (Warren on slide) Stand Back Who's Been Talking Soulshine Good Clean Fun Old Before My Time Woman Across the River Instrumental Illness II The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down Leave My Blues at Home Key to the Highway Don't Think Twice* One Way Out** Blue Sky Dreams> Les Brers in A Minor e: Layla *= with Susan Tedeschi **= with Valor Trucks on guitar By a happy coincidence, I posted my ultimate (not meaning 'so good everyone should agree,' just 'last') thoughts on the 'Dickey songs' issue in the Forum less than 24 hours ago. Turns out the people who have been saying "they're all Allman Brothers songs" were right (I'm not including myself in that smart group). For whatever it's worth, it was a very good Blue Sky, Derek's solo was top-notch. Looking back, with all the controversy, I think I'd forgotten what a good song it is. Tonight the band made me remember. And Derek's solo on Dreams was incredible, and then a little bass jam into Les Brers - with no drum solo - was very cool. Warren has never played that with the Allmans before, I thought it was nice to see the first time. And then Layla. My goodness. This probably rivals the best versions of it... I think both Fox shows so far will be highly sought-after, so get your ILs when you can. Before Blue Sky, I think Gregg said "We haven't been getting a lot of requests for this one..." The last word should probably go to the crowd: the roar as the band started the song was deafening, and the applause after it ended was very loud too. I think there's a lot of meaning in that, personally...
