I'm toast, so not much to say right now (all of a sudden I'm feeling old, and driving something like 800 miles in 3 days, and staying up to 1:30AM last night has kicked my butt...lol!)
Anyway, had a great time in PA yesterday - the "family" get together is almost better than the shows themself, but of course without the band there's no family here....it was GREAT to spend time again with Frank and Donna and family and guests at the Keystone and at the show, Matt B., Lana and Shey and the rest of the gang from Walnut Creek, surprise guests Karen and Lyn, Bill and Dave (been over a year!), fellow travellers from VA - Renovah and friend (Dianna I hope??!) and last and Certainly not least, BoBo!
(BTW - sorry- whoever I probably left out!)
Had a great time at the tailgate hosted by Frank and Donna - even took home a "souvenir" stain from Frank's home-made wine (now I need a new Jam for Duane Tee-shirt!)
Frank and Donna had some last minute special "upgrade seats", so I'm pretty sure I was down in the 5th row ones they vacated - nice spot on the Gregg side (and next to Renovah too!) Looking back toward the crowd, it seemed that the Pavilion was just about filled to capacity - lots more people than last year at Star Lake...that's good...
From my persepective, last night showcased Warren a bit more than Derek, but of course there were lots and lots of special moments from both of them...Dreams sounded great, not as "frantic" as the 1990's Warren, and it pulled me out of a sort of funk I was experiencing for a bit there...and then Derek during the start to Mountain Jam - had to be a channeling of Duane going on there!
...and after what looked like another one of those lengthy "discussions" the Layla closer was really nice!
Looking at the setlist, it almost seems like they were playing for a crowd expecting more of the older "standards" - nothing wrong with that, and of course nothing is ever played exactly the same twice, so it's always interesting and sort of new, even to us close followers of the band...and a less than 10 minute "drum trio" is okay by me...all in all it was a great time and a great show...now just counting down the days until the Fox (with a few dTb events probably thrown in to make the time pass - haha...)
