Hey now!
Huge congrats to Susan and Derek on their blessed event. Jessica Naima, eh? That has a nice ring to it...
With all due respect to the participants in the slugfest the last couple of days, I think the Trucks' bouncing baby girl is just what we needed to calm things down and remind us all of what is really important.
Linnie, congrats on meeting Warren. My Warren story is very brief. I had just seen the Allmans at Cincinnati Gardens in '91, and somehow managed to get lost on my way out of the venue--lots of wierd staircases that led nowhere, plus the drugs were real good that night!
😎
Anyway, I came to a door, and decided, what the Hell, I'll see where this leads. I opened it, and Warren was standing there in a hallway all by himself, having a quiet moment and a smoke (didn't know he smoked...maybe he has quit since then). So I just said, "Oh, sorry," and started to walk away, but then thought better of it, turned around and shook his hand and thanked him for a great time. He thanked me for coming and asked where I was from. When I said Louisville, he told me to drive carefully on my way home--turns out it had been snowing the whole time the show was going on and it was still coming down pretty good.
:cold:
The whole enounter lasted 30 seconds or so, but hey, I'll take it!
Hemlock, I was listening to that 5/7/00 show just the other day. Not sure what was going on behind the scenes, and I know some of the spring 2000 shows were pretty rough, but I thought the Music Midtown show kicked butt! FOUR instrumentals--"Rave On," "J.J.'s Alley," "True Gravity" and "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed." That's what I'm talkin' about!!
