Some good reading and I'm not done catchin up but I would like to say this about ABB & LS.
I have not seen or heard much from LS since the original line up. I saw them at the Fox 3 nites when they recorded the Live Album. They kicked Ass then. They have a great library of tunes.
One thing I keep seeing about the current version is "they don't Improvise" or " they play the songs the same note for note" That's not a terrible thing IF it sounds good. It would get old nite after nite so no need to see them twice but consider this....
If any version of the ABB Offered to book the Beacon Theater and Play the "Filmore Concert" note for note, WOULD YOU STAY HOME OR GO? Not likely it would ever happen but I can't imagine anyone would want to miss it if it did.
I love the improv for sure. But there is also nothing wrong with knowing what is comming next now & then too. Gregg said what sets the ABB apart from Jam Bands is the familiar milestone now & then to keep fans interest and the band from entering the world of endless noodeling.
Anyway, I am sure there are Bands I would want to see less then the New Skynyrd.
Dickey Opened for Skynyrd here in KC. Now that seems wrong. I just hope he isn't the 30 minute unamed band for these shows. :jester:
Don't get me wrong it would be cool for him to be there -uncool to open though.
