Interesting little known fact about the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band: their original drummer was Jim Gordon, one of the greatest rock drummers in history, and he was also the drummer for Derek and the Dominos. He came up with the piano coda for Layla. Not long after leaving the SHF, he was incarcerated for life for murdering his mother with a hammer. Later he was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic, which was unusual because most are non-violent. Truly a tragedy.
